Don Lemon became a media hero for shutting down the “fake News” talking point succinctly and abruptly. When discussing the costs of protecting the First Lady residing at Trump Tower in New York (which some are claiming exceed that of the National Endowment for the Arts) one of his guests kept insisting that this was somehow “fake news.”
Lemon has a great response and made two great points.
- “Fake news is when you put out a story to intentionally deceive someone and you know that it is wrong”
- “Please stop it with that stupid talking point, that it is a fake news story. If you don’t want to participate in the news stories on this network, then don’t come on and participate. But don’t call them fake because you don’t agree with them.”
The media needs to strike back at asserting its proper role within our democracy, and this is a great way to do it.
