The resistance to the Trump administration has taken on many forms and another vital effort is brewing. The National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NRDC) is going to instrumental in Democrats regaining a foothold in many states and former President Obama is going to be a visible part of that effort. Politico summarizes the NDRC as follows:
“The NDRC is looking to be an intensified central force for Democrats to tackle their disadvantage in gerrymandering. The mission is to direct resources into winning targeted state elections, push ballot initiatives for nonpartisan district-drawing commissions and wage legal challenges to existing maps. The hope is that this would put Democrats in a stronger position in state houses, but also in the U.S. House of Representatives.”
A big protest or march might be all the rage right now, and while those efforts are great for generating energy, protests simply don’t win elections. To turn this movement into sustainable political action a bridge is going to need to form between all of the grassroots energy and organized efforts like the NDRC.
